Solar Rituals - A solo exhibition by Kara Stone.

Vernissage is on June 11 at 18:00-22:00 at A MAZE. Shop-Gallery - Greifwalder Str. 14.

Wake up. The Sun rises and shines. Think of how the Earth’s landscape looked before the disaster. No nostalgia. Care with consequence. Build towards utopia. Fall asleep. Let the Moon take you there.

Solar Rituals is a solo exhibition by Kara Stone that binds together two aspects of her artistic work. Firstly, there is a question of whether games could be developed and played differently from the current trends in the gaming industry and whether they could become more sustainable and more mindful of our limited natural resources. Secondly, there is the ritual practice that connects our bodily day-to-day experience with meditation, care and self-consciousness from the viewpoint of precious seconds in spacetime. The answers she proposes through her games require an active dialogue with the players. They are critical but also not short of optimistic.

Solar Server games:

Known Mysteries:
Known Mysteries is a narrative mystery game with video interludes and it is the first game made for Solar Server. It is about the desire to escape Earth. Using a mix of video and text, Sorrow’s story unfolds with the help of the player to solve the mysteries in her town.

Landfill:
Landfill is a durational and experimental digital card game that uses the player’s current local weather to affect the gameplay. The game takes place in an apocalyptic world after a disaster and the player is sent on a mission to renew destroyed land alongside that land’s steward.

Ritual games:

Ritual of the Moon
Ritual of the Moon is a 28 day long multi-narrative game and meditational activity exploring loneliness, power, and healing. Once discovering her powers, The Earth’s Council exiles the witch to the Moon to live out the rest of her life looking at the Earth without the possibility of going back. The player spends 5 minutes each day over the 28 days reflecting on her experiences on Earth, meditating at her altar, and making a life or death choice.

UnearthU
Meet KARE, the Artificial Intelligence system that will guide you through a self-discovery program. She is designed to be your personal life coach, dispensing mindful exercises, guided reflections, and lectures on a range of topics such as body image, the equanimous mind, everyday utopia, and increased productivity. Unearth hidden power U never knew you had. In only seven days!

Time For It
Tabletop role-playing game for 4-6 players about community problem solving in a post-disaster world.
