The exhibition includes the mixed reality experience named “NOVOCENE - A Possible Future” and other mixed media art.
NOVOCENE unfolds an interactive narrative exploring humanity’s evolution through the Anthropocene — the era shaped by human impact, resource extraction and environmental devastation. Contrasting the realities of the emerging climate crisis with visions of technological utopia, the mixed reality experience immerses viewers into a reflective journey through layers of time and possibility.
Jens Isensee is an transmedia artist and game designer based in Berlin. He created the climate crisis simulator Imagine Earth. His works are interactive video installations and participative experiences as well as experimental short films or temporal cardboard sculptures with 3D-printed features and technical elements embedded. What they have in common is a focus on the critical examination of developments and crises in contemporary culture, society and the environment. His aim is to explore unexpected possibilities and new perspectives on reality that arise in the immersive virtual spaces of new media and technologies. Right now, he is experimenting with various approaches to address the climate crisis in a series of artworks.
