
As part of the Games Connect AFRICA project commissioned by the Goethe-Institut, A MAZE., the Goethe-Institut Ghana, and the Node Eight Foundation are pleased to present the project PLAYFUL OBSCURA – Arthouse Games Residency, a two-week artist residency taking place from September 15 to 27 in Ho, Volta Region, Ghana. This residency is intended to serve as a supporting program to assist artists working in the field of arthouse games and playful media.
After the successful call with 45 submissions from 10 African countries including Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, South Africa, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Benin, Senegal, Ethiopia, jury members from Goethe-Institut, Node Eight and A MAZE. selected 2 artists.
Welcome and congratulations to our first participants of Playful Obscura, Joanna Oluoch a game designer, software developer, and digital illustrator, focusing on storytelling through design based in Kenya and Ebenezer Miracle Gyedu Apau a 3D artist, to designing UI and promotional assets as a graphic designer from Ghana, focusing on visual storytelling and gameplay to create meaningful, engaging experiences.
